One plan for videos, streams and meetings
Live Translate works with the audio playing in a Chrome tab, on the sites you already use.
Videos and podcasts
Watch YouTube tutorials, interviews, news and podcasts in another language and hear them in yours, with captions alongside.
Livestreams
Follow a Twitch or YouTube Live stream as it happens. The translated voice runs only about 3 seconds behind the streamer.
Meetings and classes
Understand Google Meet calls, webinars and online classes that run in the browser.
Included in every plan
Plans differ only in how many minutes they include. Every feature below works on all of them, Free included.
Real-time audio translation
Audio playing in a Chrome tab (a YouTube video, a Twitch stream, a Google Meet call) is translated automatically, with about 3 seconds of delay.
20 languages
Choose the language you want to hear in the extension. It comes in the same languages as this website.
Live original captions
Follow what is being said in the original language. Each line updates in place while the sentence is still being spoken.
Live translated captions
The translation appears next to the original in the side panel, line by line, as the speaker talks.
Translated voice in your language
Hear the translation spoken in the language you chose. The original audio dips while it speaks, and you can adjust both volumes.
Copy and export captions
Copy the captions, or save the original and the translation as text files (.txt) when you are done.
Keyboard shortcut
Start or stop translating the current tab without opening the extension: Alt+Shift+L, or Control+Shift+L on a Mac. You can change it in Chrome’s shortcut settings.
Minibar on the tab
A small bar on the edge of the tab being translated. Hover it to pause, open the captions or the settings; drag it to move it.
Long sessions without interruptions
The connection is renewed before the server closes it, so hours-long streams and meetings keep going without losing audio.
Frequently asked questions
Which sites does it work on?
Sites that play audio in a Chrome tab, such as YouTube, Twitch or Google Meet in the browser. Desktop apps such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams are out of scope.
When are minutes counted?
Only while a translation session is running. Time spent reconnecting after a lost connection is not counted.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel your plan on the Account page. It stays usable until the end of the period you paid for.
What happens if I run out of minutes mid-session?
Translation keeps running until the next connection handover (about 10 minutes at most) and then stops. That overage is not carried into the next period.
Who handles payments?
Paddle handles payments as the merchant of record. Your payments and invoice numbers are listed on the Account page.
